Student therapists in the GTA are in the process of completing a Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Education, or a comparable program. They often offer very low-cost therapy in exchange for the opportunity to gain experience as new counsellors, and work within local practicum placements under the supervision of a qualified clinical supervisor.
The Greater Toronto Area (GTA)—home to many student psychotherapists completing graduate training and offering low-cost, supervised therapy to support individuals, couples, families, and groups—includes Toronto and surrounding communities across Durham, York, Peel, and Halton Regions, including Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Clarington, Uxbridge, Scugog, and Brock in Durham Region; Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Newmarket, Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, and Whitchurch-Stouffville in York Region; Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon in Peel Region; and Oakville, Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills in Halton Region.
