Get to know Emma

Hello, it’s so nice to meet you!

My name is Emma and I am a student intern therapist practicing at Counselling ad Co. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and I aim to provide clients with the right therapeutic tools and interventions to grow and make personal changes. This is something that I take on humbly as it is a huge responsibility to establish a safe and empathetic environment with my clients.

I always take on an empathetic and open-minded approach when engaging in meaningful conversations with my clients, and honestly, with everyone in my life. Establishing a safe and understanding environment is the foundation of every client-counsellor relationship. Therefore, it is my commitment to honour this throughout your therapeutic journey. I am excited to watch you grow and to help you navigate and embrace any challenges that you face.

I am especially interested in working with clients who are facing relationship and friendship conflicts, stress and burnout, anxiety, experiences of low self-esteem, life and career transitions, and difficulties with finding a sense of identity and belonging. One area of struggle does not outweigh another as there can be overlaps that we can break down and draw connections to together.

How I stand out from other therapists is that I have lived in four different countries throughout my life, so I have had to learn to adjust and adapt to change many times. This has helped me to navigate and become comfortable with life transitions in the face of adversity. The trajectory of our lives often shifts unexpectedly, and I have plenty of lived experience with handling the stressors of change and having to find oneself in a new and unknown environment.

My approach of Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) provides a focus on building your relationship with yourself and strengthening your self-compassion and emotional awareness. This modality will help you to develop healthy emotional regulation and coping skills and to become more attuned to who you are as an emotional being.

A few fun facts about me: I worked as a cast member in Disney World, I love playing video games in my free time, and I have lived in four different countries throughout my life!
