Hi, I’m Elaine.
I specialize in grief therapy, including the complicated and often isolating grief that comes after losing someone to suicide. I also work with people navigating communication issues in their relationship. This shows up as having the same fight over and over again. This includes those who are dating and starting to wonder if finding your person will ever feel as easy as it looks for everyone else.
A lot of my clients are quite capable but they’re running on empty. They’ve spent years reading rooms, worrying that they are too much and not enough at the same time. They end up walking on eggshells to manage the people around them. Somewhere in that process, they have no idea who they are or what they actually want. They can be in a room full of people, even a relationship, and still feel fundamentally unseen and lonely. And underneath the exhaustion, there’s a fear: that this is just who they are now, and that they’ll always feel this lonely.
Before I became a therapist, I spent twenty years as an entrepreneur. During that time I moved through burnout (twice), the financial strain of entrepreneurship, the suicide loss of 3 family members, and the experience of becoming a wife and mother in my 40s. I understand what it looks like to keep showing up when life is genuinely hard.
My approach is attachment-based and trauma-informed. I have additional training in Trauma of Money, Timeline Therapy, and Hypnotherapy. Sessions are grounded and conversational, oriented around the patterns you already know you want to stop repeating.
I offer in-person therapy in Ottawa and virtual sessions across Ontario.
