Get to know Shayla

Hi, I’m Shayla and I’m here to help support you on your journey. I provide counselling for a wide array of issues, including anxiety, stress, life transitions, depression, relationship issues, among others. I work with children and adolescents 12 years and up, and adults of all ages at Paramount Psychology & Counselling. My aim is to help you reach your goals while making space for your story to be listened to. As a counselling intern, I offer a cost-effective rate and have ongoing supervision from an experienced registered psychologist.

Alongside counselling, I also volunteer as a crisis responder, helping children, teens, and adults navigate emotional distress. With a background in education, I understand the realities of school stress and use that knowledge to support teachers, students, and families. Through my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology, I have learned skills and evidence-based approaches. I draw from CBT, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness therapy, and other modalities in my practice.

Whether you are navigating mental health issues or struggling to balance work, school, socialization, family, or other areas of life, it can be overwhelming and exhausting. My focus is on providing an empathetic, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space for you to feel safe, supported, and understood. I look forward to meeting with you.
