Get to know Karis S.K.

Using a client-centered and compassionate approach, my work is grounded in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). I view therapy as a meaningful journey of discovering and understanding one’s inner world—one that brings forward the humanity, strength, and kindness within each person. My goal is to help you turn life’s challenges into opportunities for growth, access your inner resources, and build resilience and lasting change.
I am a Registered Social Worker with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals and families. My career began in family services in Hong Kong and has continued in Canada, where I have worked with clients facing a wide range of concerns, including child protection issues, suicidal ideation, divorce and separation, parenting challenges, aging, poverty, addictions, and mental health difficulties.
My clinical practice includes individual counselling, pre-marital and marital therapy, parent-child relationship work, and other relational concerns. I draw from multiple evidence-based approaches, including Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Structural Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Care.
Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, I am committed to serving diverse communities with cultural sensitivity and respect.
