I am Isabella Rivera Jourdain, a dedicated therapist with a deep passion for helping individuals navigate their mental health journeys. I am currently pursuing an MEd in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Francisco Marroquín University. Both my undergraduate degree and clinical psychologist certification are from Guatemala, and I am currently working on becoming a psychotherapist in Canada. With extensive experience in private practice, I specialize in Integrative Psychotherapy with a strong focus on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Theory. During this practicum year, I will be implementing Focusing into my work. I started studying this approach recently and am excited to use it with my future clients! My work with diverse clients—including adults, youth and children, and LGBTQ+, Indigenous, BIPOC, and Low-Income communities—has equipped me with the skills to support a broad spectrum of mental health needs. I thrive on promoting an inclusive, accepting and empathic environment. Fluent in both Spanish and English, with a basic proficiency in Portuguese, I am committed to promoting mental health through therapy and educational initiatives. I have taught and assisted in various psychology courses at my alma mater. Outside of work, I find fulfillment in practicing yoga, volunteering for different causes, and diving into novels. I am dedicated to creating a safe and supportive space where you can explore and heal. I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey towards greater well-being, starting this September in Toronto!
