Hi! My name is Falyn (pronounced like the TV host Jimmy “Fallon”), and I am in the Master of Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. Before entering this program, I earned my Bachelor of Social Work from Carleton University and an Advanced Diploma in Child and Youth Care at Algonquin College. I have professional experience supporting children, youth, adults, and older adults across a variety of community and educational settings.
I am currently completing my university practicum at Stradwick Psychology and Neurofeedback Clinic at the Stittsville location, where I provide counselling services both in person and virtually.
In my practice, I use a person-centred and strengths-based approach. In the therapeutic space, this looks like a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. I believe that each individual is the expert in their own life. Functioning through a strengths-based lens allows me to help clients identify and build upon their existing skills, values, and inner resources, rather than focusing solely on challenges and diagnoses.
I will tailor a client’s treatment plan with evidence-based approaches based on the individual’s unique presentation. Frequently, I integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, where we explore connections and patterns between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Together, we understand unhelpful thought patterns, develop more balanced perspectives, and practice strategies to support meaningful change.
My goal is to support clients in increasing self-awareness, strengthening coping skills, and building confidence as they move toward greater well-being and personal growth. I am passionate about meeting clients where they are at and walking alongside them in a way that feels empowering, collaborative, and compassionate. I look forward to meeting you!
