Get to know Danielle

Danielle Dunlop (she/her) is a student therapist, working towards her Masters of Social Work with a clinical specialization in trauma-informed practice with the University of Calgary. She has a background in psychology and 6 years of experience working with individuals with complex mental health challenges. Known for her empathetic and nonjudgmental practice, often using humour and wit in her approach, Danielle is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing space for individuals who need support and compassion.

Philosophy

Danielle believes in a strong therapeutic alliance, where collaboration with her clients is key. She believes that each person comes to the therapy room with their own challenges, but also with strengths and resilience that serves an important part of the individual’s therapeutic journey. Danielle is committed to empowering her clients by taking a genuine and authentic approach to therapy and providing her clients with tools and skills for personal growth and success.

Therapeutic Approach

As a therapist, Danielle understands that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all model and is dedicated to collaborating with her clients to find what works for them. She takes a genuine interest in learning about her clients holistically before determining a healing plan. Danielle utilizes a multitude of modalities that integrate the mind and body in therapy, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution focused brief therapy (SFBT), somatic experiencing (SE) and mindfulness-based therapies to support her clients in healing and growth.

Focus Area

In her counselling practice, Danielle supports clients that struggle with anxiety and stress, relationship issues such as boundary setting, navigating life transitions, and working with those who have experienced trauma. She has a keen interest and goal of continuing to work with clients who have experienced trauma, including first responders.
