Hi, I’m Annie. I’m currently completing my practicum as part of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. My path into counselling has been shaped by diverse professional and personal experiences – from teaching English abroad to working in human resources – all of which deepened my appreciation for how people grow, adapt, and connect.
What drew me most to this field is the opportunity to walk alongside people as they navigate both challenges and opportunities for growth. I believe that our mental, emotional, and physical worlds are deeply interconnected, and I work with clients to explore how stress, burnout, anxiety, or low mood can affect both mind and body. Together, we look for ways to build balance, self-awareness, and authentic connection.
I have a particular interest in men’s and women’s mental health, especially around how cultural and social expectations can shape the way emotions are expressed and understood. I strive to create a safe and inclusive space where people of all identities can feel supported and respected as they explore their experiences.
My approach draws from evidence-based therapies such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy. I aim to balance practical tools for moving forward with deeper exploration of the “why” behind patterns of thought, feeling, and behaviour.
When I’m not studying or in session, you’ll often find me outdoors—running, hiking, or practicing yoga—or spending time with friends and family. I also love to travel, try new creative outlets like pottery, and enjoy anything that helps me stay grounded and connected.
