Get to know Alycia

I am a Master’s-level Counselling Psychology student currently completing my training while practicing under the clinical supervision of Jennifer Jurkofsky, MA, RP, CCC. I am deeply committed to supporting people in becoming active participants in their own healing process, guided by the belief that insight, agency, and compassion are central to meaningful change.

My interest in counselling grew from a long-standing curiosity about the mind and the ways our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours influence one another. With an academic background in neuroscience and mental health, I was initially drawn to the scientific foundations of psychological well-being. Over time, my focus expanded beyond theory into the relational heart of therapy — the healing that emerges through safety, trust, and authentic human connection.

Personal experiences have also shaped my path into this field, highlighting how lonely internal struggles can feel when faced in isolation, and how transformative it can be to be met with empathy and understanding. These experiences led me to pursue a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and to continue developing skills that allow me to support others with presence, care, and intention.

In my work, I aim to foster a supportive, non-judgmental environment where clients feel genuinely seen and valued. I work primarily with adolescents and adults who are navigating life transitions, emotional challenges, and concerns related to anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, and relationships. My therapeutic approach is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and humanistic principles, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and the therapeutic relationship.

I support clients in increasing self-awareness, identifying unhelpful patterns, and reconnecting with their values in ways that feel aligned and sustainable. While my work is grounded in evidence-based practices, it is always personalized — shaped by your story, strengths, and goals. I offer counselling services in both English and French.
